What is Pilates

Pilates is a highly customized, fitness and conditioning regimen founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It dramatically improves body awareness, proper alignment, agility, flexibility and muscle strength while maintaining maximum mobility as people age.
Many of the exercises are performed either on mat or specialized equipment while reclining or sitting. no other exercise system is as gentle to the body while providing a challenging, full body workout. Pilates is used by professional dancers and athletes and recently, has been adopted by a number of Hollywood celebrities which has resulted in an explosion on interest nationwide.
Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® incorporate many key principles of yoga, dance and tai chi. Founded by Juliu Horvath, both disciplines invigorate and reeducate the body to move with fluidity, relaxation and power.
